10 Leadership Secrets Part 2
Vi. Leaders lead people into new experiences and encounters with the assurance that tomorrow can be better than today through taking full responsibility for one’s personal leadership development.
VII. The purpose for leadership is not the maintenance of followers but the production of more leaders.
VIII. “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.” – Rosalynn Carter, US First Lady (b 1927).
IX. Leaders lead by taking initiatives I.e. the capacity to make things happen. They don’t wait for things to happen to them; they rather take initiatives to make things happen and end up happening to things by challenging the status quo.
X. The one constant in the life of a leader is the word ‘CHANGE’. Leaders are not afraid of change – they actually initiate change. Leaders know change is hard to live with but impossible to live without.’ Agility is a key quality for future leaders, because, as they say, “if you don’t like change, you’ll like irrelevance even less.”
